Ranking teams by "Overall Goals Difference" not by points

==========

This has been just added to my football Doc. at that link:

That idea WILL encourage teams to focus more strongly,  on both offense and defense strategies. And hence perform at higher levels of play.

This idea is based on rewarding teams for their overall goal difference throughout the whole league season, rather than just their match wins.

In other words, the league table would NOT be determined by gained points, but by the overall goal difference.

In case of a tie, the team that scored more goals would be given priority.

If there is a potential criticism of this system, saying a team might be lucky, as it wins against a weak team by a large margin.

The response to that criticism is that this "weak team" will face all the other teams as well.

Another response is that the current "points system" isn't entirely fair, as it gives three points to a team that had a mediocre performance but managed hardly to score a winning goal, while it (the same current points system) gives the same three points to a wonderful team that played brilliantly against a strong opponent, and won by a decent margin."

Some other advantages of this new system are:

 - The Fan would concentrate on following the whole league, rather than on some favorite matches.

They also (the Fan) would learn to care about goal difference calculations.

- There WILL be certainly, much more interest, excitement & fun in watching And following Football Leagues.

-  All that would be in favor of "The Football  Game" in general.

TWO (OPTIONAL) ALTERNATIVES HERE:

1 - Structured Grouping to Prevent Ranking Disorder

To maintain competitive clarity and avoid irregular fluctuations in the ranking order, the league table shall be organized into three consecutive groups based on the teams’ goal difference, while ensuring that the overall winning performance remains the primary determinant of group placement.

. Top Group (High-Performance Tier):

This group shall include all teams that have won 50% or more of their total matches.

Teams within this group are subsequently ranked according to their goal difference.

. Middle Group (Moderate-Performance Tier):

This group shall include all teams that have won between 30% and less than 50% of their total matches.

The internal ranking of teams within this group is determined by their goal difference.

. Bottom Group (Low-Performance Tier):

This group shall include all teams that have won less than 30% of their total matches.Their goal differences are expected to be predominantly negative; however, they are also ranked internally according to goal difference.

This structured classification aims to combine quantitative success (win ratio) with qualitative performance (goal balance), creating a more equitable and strategically engaging ranking model for football leagues.

2 - Grouping by gained points

THIS IS RATHER A SIMPLER SOLUTION OF GROUPING.

The league table would be in the form of three consecutive groups, based on the number of gained points.

Ranking the teams within each group, would be done according to goal difference among them:

- The 1st group (the top group) includes the teams getting the highest points, ranked by goal difference.

- The 2nd group include the teams, with average number of points, ranked by goal difference.

- The 3rd group (the bottom group) includes the teams having poor points, ranked by goal difference as well.

Initially, FIFA & other organisers, may keep the old system in major leagues & competitions, while trying to test this new system in less important leagues, such as the uefa conference league ( & similar continental ) or in the 2nd or 3rd level local ones, to measure its impact on goal counts, game fairness & fan satisfaction.

Later on, there would be either :

Keeping the old system,

Adopting one of these new suggestion,

OR creating a NEW HYBRID model out of them all.
